3 months ago Must-Try Vegan And Vegetarian Restaurants In Chicago
Over twenty years ago, I went vegetarian for one year. I gave it up because finding various recipes was challenging, and eating out at restaurants took work. I was bored. I did not go back to eating beef and pork in my diet.
With the New Year approaching, some people will resolve to adopt a plant-based diet or incorporate a meal or two a week. You don’t have to miss out on going to restaurants and enjoying some of your favorite foods. Chicago offers a wide variety of vegetarian and vegan food options: Asian, Mexican, and American, you name it. The restaurants are not listed in any particular order. I have tried many of the foods on the list. I’ve also included a list of restaurants I plan to visit.
1. Can’t Believe It’s Not Meat
Can’t Believe It’s Not Meat has three locations, the original Chicago Hyde Park Neighborhood, Gold Coast, south suburbs of Orland Park. Each location offers indoor seating. I’ve only visited the Orland Park location. Check the menu on the website; some items are not served at all three locations. During my most recent visit, I tried the Big Mik, a vegan version of the famous Big Mac. The sandwich has the famous sauce, and it comes with seasoned fries. It is a delicious substitute.

When you give up meat, you give up some of your favorite foods. At Can’t Believe It’s Not Meat, you can get The Big Mik Burger, a vegan version from favorite fast food chains, Italian beef, and my personal favorite is Can’t Believe It’s a Pizza Poof, a vegan version of my childhood favorite after school snack, pizza puff with fries and mild sauce.
