I am setting a new goal for myself in 2021 to visit all Indiana 24 parks and eight reservoir properties. Most have an entrance fee of $7, but you can buy a $50 (for Indiana Residents $70 for out-of-state) annual Indiana state park pass. I’m going to make a list for Illinois (309 state parks) but aim for just state parks in the Chicagoland area.
I have already visited two Indiana State Parks, and at the time of writing this post, I am going to visit my third. I will be making updates after I visit a new park. A fun we to explore state parks is to attend park ranger let hikes. Some include bird watching, spring flowers, and hikes with general history of the park.
Indiana Dunes National and State Park
The Indiana Dunes is a national park and a state park. One of the fun things to do there is The 3Dune Challenge. The midwest is pretty flight. Here you can catch views of Lake Michigan on top of a sand dune.
Charlestown Indiana State Park
Charlestown Indiana State Park is located in southern Indiana, near the Kentucky border.
