Frida Kahlo: Timeless in Exhibit DuPage County IL

Frida Kahlo: Timeless is an immersive exhibition coming to The McAninch Arts at the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, IL on June 5 to Sept 6, 2021. TImeless is being hosted by the Cleve Carney Museum of Art (CCMA) and the McAninch Arts Center (MAC) as the College of Dupage (COD). The show will present 26 original artworks and a multmediate timeline borrowed from the Museo Dolores Olmedo in Mexico City and 100+ photos taken throughout the artist’s life.

Frida Kahlo was a Mexican Artist, born in 1907 in Coyoacan Mexico. Frida fell ill to polio as a young child that left her disabled. Kahlo’s paintings were about her illness, politics, and her personal life.

Kahlo Kids Corner

Frida Kahlo: Timeless will also be a family-friendly children’s area suitable for all ages including a garden designed by Ball Horticultural Company, inspired Frida Kahlo. The kids corner is arranged for younger children to gain an understaning of Kahlo’s life.

The “Kahlo Kids’ Corner” is located on the south end of McAninch Arts Center. The room will showcase Frida’s home, pets and artwork through video and activities. Children can play with Mexican dolls, and create their own self-portraits, lust like Frida Kahlo. “The Frida Kahlo Coloring Book is available for sale at the gift shop.

“Kahlo Kids’ Corner” will offer two free printmaking workshops on Tues., July 6 and Sat., Aug. 21 from 10 a.m. -2 p.m., led by printmaking collective Instituto Gráfico de Chicago. The activities are geared for pre-K through third grade. “Kahlo Kids’ Corner” is supported by Ecolab. For more information on programming visit Frida2021.org
