A&A Ballet Presents The Art Deco Nutcracker
When we think of Christmas, you can’t help but think about the Nutcracker. Another Christmas tradition I have never seen before. Last night that all changed. I was given tickets to see the American Ballet Theatre’s production of “The Art Deco Nutcracker,” choreographed by Alexie Kremnev.
It took a friend of mine with me, and the minute the show started, it brought childhood memories of when she would watch the Nutcracker on tv with her mom, who had recently passed away. The memories brought her joy and were excited to see it live.
I felt like a kid again, feeling the excitement of the performers trying to figure out what was in the gift box. I laughed out loud at the mouse king’s and his army dance and celebrated with the dancers from around the world.
The students of A&A gave a beautiful performance and put me in the holiday spirit. I hope to start making this an annual tradition.
For more information on the remaining performances at the Studebaker Theatre, see the site for tickets.
